Katie Lindeberg is the Emergency Department Integrated Care Coordinator (Advanced Social Worker) at Queensland Children’s Hospital and is passionate about providing quality, trauma informed care to an adolescent cohort in the Emergency Department. Katie has designed and implemented a model of service delivery at QCH, coordinating care for non-acute, socially complex young people (aged 12-18) presenting to QCH Emergency in social crisis. Katie promotes “rethinking care” for this challenging cohort, with a focus on enhancing integrated, trauma informed responses and formalising critical community care pathways and secondary supports with a view of reducing demand on the ED, reducing length of stay and non-acute presentations and/or social admissions. Katie’s work in the pilot phase of this program resulted in a successful application in the 2022 Department of Health Connecting Communities Pathways grand funding round, supporting sustainability and scalability of this initiative.
Katie graduated from Flinders University (South Australia) in 2004, Katie possesses over 16 years of experience in clinical social work across tertiary paediatric hospital, community mental health and statutory child protection settings. Previous achievements include leading the development and implementation of the QCH Social Work Evenings, Weekends and Public Holiday Service and presenting knowledge and skills at national conferences including Australian Association of Infant Mental Health Inc (2017) and Oncology Social Work Australia New Zealand (2018) conferences. |
