Lauren is a ACEM PEM trainee currently working as a Fellow at Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. Originally from Queensland, she headed south to start her medical training at the University of Notre Dame Sydney, which allowed her to experience the big smoke of St Vincent’s Sydney and regional medicine in Ballarat, and reinforced her love of emergency medicine.
On returning to Queensland, she began her training in Toowoomba, which allowed her to develop her skills in a fantastic department prior to relocating to Brisbane to complete her advanced training. She has had the opportunity to work in paediatric intensive care and retrievals, adult and paediatric emergency departments, and paediatric inpatient wards. She has developed a keen interest in resuscitation, and aims to make every patient’s worst day just a little bit better. Coming from a family of teachers, she has always had a love of medical education, and has enjoyed the opportunity to continue to develop skills in multidisciplinary simulation, clinical and simulation debriefing, and team formation and functionality. Outside of work, she enjoys aerial yoga, going to the gym, playing her musical instruments and spending time with her extremely patient husband and fur babies, Oberon and Puck. |
