Amanda is a paediatric nurse and an Associate Professor and NHMRC Fellow (Griffith University), with honorary positions at the Queensland Children's Hospital and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. Amanda spent 12 years working at the at the old Royal Children's Hospital (Brisbane) in the PICU, and at Our Ladies Hospital for Sick Children (Dublin). This included roles in retrieval services, education and clinical innovation.
Now she focusses her time on preventing harm associated with paediatric hospital admission, especially within vascular access. This includes innovations to improve practices surrounding the selection, insertion and management of peripheral and central vascular access devices.
