The Paediatric Education for Nursing Staff (PENS) Course is an innovative and interactive three-day program designed to advance the knowledge, confidence, and clinical skills of nurses, nurse practitioners, and paramedics caring for acutely unwell children and neonates.

Developed in response to the growing demand for high-quality paediatric emergency education, the PENS Course combines the comprehensive two-day Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Course with an additional nursing-focused day that explores the practical skills, logistics, and clinical approaches most relevant to nursing and allied health professionals.

During the first two days, participants join the PEM Course alongside their medical colleagues, exploring the latest evidence-based approaches to common paediatric emergency presentations through case discussions, clinical vignettes, guideline reviews, and a wide range of real-world learning materials, including X-rays, ultrasound, CT imaging, clinical photographs, and video cases.

The third day is dedicated exclusively to PENS participants and is delivered by an experienced faculty of nursing educators with expertise in paediatric emergency nursing, neonatal care, and clinical education. Designed specifically for nurses, nurse practitioners, and paramedics, this program focuses on practical skills, tips, and techniques to support confident, high-quality patient care. The third day may be attended as a standalone course or as part of the full three-day PENS Course.
