The Paediatric Emergency Medicine Boss Course is an innovative and interactive one-day program designed for Specialists, Senior Registrars, General Practitioners, and Rural Generalists looking to further develop their expertise in Paediatric Emergency Medicine.

The course provides a unique opportunity for consultant-to-consultant facilitated peer review and discussion on complex and high-impact topics relevant to paediatric emergency practice. Participants work in small groups through a series of interactive round-table discussions, rotating through each module throughout the day.

Designed as a PowerPoint-free learning environment, the PEM Boss Course encourages open discussion, shared clinical experience, and practical problem-solving rather than traditional lecture-based teaching.

Course modules include:

• Optimisation of the sick neonate
• 50 Shades of Fever: The Febrile Infant
• Management of Complex Child Trauma
• The Challenging Adolescent in the ED
• Neurological Conundrums
• Optimisation During Resuscitation and Pre-Retrieval Management
• Conditions Peculiar to Childhood and Infancy, including eczema and food intolerances
• The Challenge of Congenital Cardiac Conditions

The PEM Boss Course can be attended as a standalone one-day program or combined with the two-day PEM Course to create a comprehensive three-day learning experience.

The first two days introduce the foundations of clinical reasoning in Paediatric Emergency Medicine through focused, practical sessions covering a broad range of paediatric emergency topics. The third day, PEM BOSS, builds on this foundation through facilitated peer discussion and expert-to-expert learning.
