Claire is a passionate and dedicated paediatric nursing clinician and educator. Her nursing career has spanned over two decades, with most of those years dedicated to nursing children and young people in both acute and community settings. Throughout her nursing career, she has held various positions, including General Paediatric Nurse, Nurse Unit Manager, Nurse Educator, Child Protection Liaison Officer and Nurse Immuniser. She is currently employed as both a Paediatric Nurse Educator in the acute setting and a sessional academic at a National University. In addition to her clinical experience, she has completed post-graduate studies in paediatric nursing and adult education.
Currently, she is a PhD candidate undertaking qualitative research exploring the construction of paediatric health care services and perceptions of managers, nurses and parents of children with complex health needs in a non-tertiary paediatric hospital. Her interests in clinical education include technologies and modalities for adult teaching in the public health environment. Additionally, she has an academic interest in paediatric health services and models of care on both a national and global level.
When she is not at work or studying, She enjoys spending time with her two primary school age children, her husband and her beloved English Setter.
